Carbo Load Baked Goods is a local bakery in Floyd, Iowa. Baker Emily’s farm is close to Jóia Food & Fiber Farm AND she loves using our Kernza® that she mills herself and puts in everything she bakes, from 5-25% depending on the type of item. For her baking flour, we got her hooked on organic flour options from Meadowlark Organic Farm and Mill, made from grains grown in the Driftless areas of SW Wisconsin and NE Iowa! Everything that comes out of Emily’s ovens are purely local and all chemical-free!

There are two bread share options available for you. Single is one original sourdough loaf at the amount you choose. Double is one original sourdough loaf and one surprise loaf* at the amount you choose. For a 3 or 6 month bread subscription, please visit our CSA bread subscription.

Orders will need to be made by that Monday prior to your delivery date.

Emily is a mother, a wife, and a small business owner. She lives on a farm, where her husband, kids and loyal dog raise goats and sheep. They are working toward creating a sustainable farm that will support their family for years to come.

Her journey into baking began with her children. She wanted to provide them with wholesome, simple-ingredient baked goods. She also wanted to create options for herself. As a Type 1 diabetic with fructose intolerance, she became more mindful of food labels and ingredients, which fueled her passion for baking.

She started with basic yeast breads, which eventually led her to sourdough—now the foundation of all of her baking. She specialize in a variety of sourdough creations, from traditional loaves to those with unique inclusions, as well as sweet breads, cookies, scones, crackers, desserts, and more.

Her family heritage is a rich blend of European roots on both sides. She says, “While I am Christian, I am also Jewish, and I’ve developed a deep interest in my Jewish heritage—especially since I didn’t grow up knowing much about it. Lately, I’ve been exploring traditional Jewish breads and experimenting with recipes, so stay tuned for some sourdough challah!"
